Elizabeth Means tried to play through a right shoulder injury, but her efforts were not enough as Gilas Pilipinas Women bowed to two French teams in the group stage of the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series–Jinan Stop on Saturday at Jinan Cunac Mall in China.
Means sustained the injury in a case of friendly fire during the qualifying draw.
Gilas Women and Manila Gilas met in a win-or-go-home clash after both Philippine squads cruised past Vietnam in their respective qualifying games.
With 1:24 remaining and Gilas holding a 15-11 lead, Means attempted to fight through a screen set by Tin Cayabyab, but the collision injured her shoulder.
Despite the setback, Gilas completed a 19-14 victory behind Mikka Cacho’s six points. Camille Clarin and Tantoy Ferrer added five points each, while Means chipped in four.
For Manila Gilas, Ann Pingol and Cayabyab scored five points apiece, while Sam Harada and Kaye Pingol contributed two each.
