AZ Reid and the San Miguel Beermen are set to part ways again.
As per reports Wednesday, Reid will be replaced by former Utah Jazz player Kevin Murphy, as the Beermen are looking to improve their campaign in the on-going 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
This change comes in light of SMB’s 102-110 defeat in the hands of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel last Sunday, a team so depleted as they were without Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter, among others.
In that loss that sent San Miguel to 2-2, Reid shot a paltry 6-of-21 from the field and finished with just 13 points. That, after flirting with a quadruple-double in a win over the Columbian Dyip on Friday.
Reid, a two-time Best Import and a champion with the Beermen in 2015, had also been sent home back in 2016 in the very same conference after hurting his Achilles tendon.
As Reid checks out, Murphy is expected to deliver right away.
The 28-year-old Murphy, a product of the Tennessee Tech, was the 47th overall pick by the Jazz back in the 2012 NBA Draft. He sparingly played in Utah in his rookie season.
Murphy, who hails from Atlanta, Georgua, has also played in the NBA D-League, and he has also become a veteran journeyman thanks to his stints in China, Japan, France, and Croatia.
