Abra big man Geo Chiu successfully beat the Friday cutoff for the submission of requirements for the 2025 PBA Draft.
Weavers team manager Chris Conwi confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times, noting that Abra owner Cong. JB Bernos fully supports Chiu’s decision to declare for the draft.
He added that the 6-foot-10 center will first finish the current MPBL season before officially joining the PBA squad that selects him.
Chiu now joins the pool of 128 draft aspirants, headlined by Juan Gomez de Liano, Jason Brickman, and Dalph Panopio.
At 6-foot-8, he stands as the tallest prospect in this year’s class.
The former Ateneo Blue Eagle spent four years in the UAAP before turning pro in 2024, suiting up for the Taiwan Mustangs.
He later moved to Japan, signing with Ehime in the 2024-25 B.League season. There, he appeared in 53 games and posted averages of 3.0 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest.
Currently, Chiu is averaging 5.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game in eight outings with Abra in the MPBL.
On the international stage, Chiu also represented Gilas Pilipinas, playing nine games from 2021 to 2023.
