Meralco is bringing in one of Asia’s most exciting guards today.
With the 2025-26 East Asia Super League now underway, the Bolts have signed Iranian star Sina Vahedi, player agency PSB Sports announced via Instagram Friday.
The PBA outfit has grown familiar with the 24-year-old after seeing his fine play with Tabiat Basketball in the Basketball Champions League Asia just last July, where he averaged 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals, helping his side to a quarterfinal finish.
Also a veteran of the FIBA West Asia Super League, Vahedi gained even more prominence after being named to the All-Star Five of the FIBA Asia Cup last July in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
There, the heady floor general averaged 17.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.0 steal as he helped lead Team Melli to the bronze for the country’s first medal in the continental meet in eight years.
Vahedi is expected to provide solid playmaking to a Meralco side that already has Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as its reinforcements, making their upcoming EASL campaign an intriguing one.
The Bolts are no stranger to acquiring services of Iranian players, having signed Mohammed Jamshidi as an Asian import back in the 2016 Governors’ Cup.
