Evan Nelle’s start with De La Salle University has been steady.
In his first six games with the Green Archers, the NCAA Season 95 Mythical Team member has been posting numbers of 7.83 points, 2,83 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest.
And even Nelle admitted that it was not the start that he expected.
“Honestly, I’m playing bad.
“I think I’m putting on too much pressure on myself, thinking too much. I should just let the game come to me – shouldn’t force anything, [just] get my teammates involved,” Nelle admitted. “For the past few games – for the whole first round – I don’t think I ever reached five assists so that’s something I need to work on. I need to run the offense more, lessen my turnovers talaga.”
In the last game of the elimination round against Adamson University, the 22-year-old floor general finally put up the game expected of him.
With 16.3 seconds left, Nelle connected on a clutch trey to give his team a 59-55 advantage. The Green Archers then executed on both ends of the floor in the ensuing possessions.
They sent the Soaring Falcons to their fifth straight loss.
Nelle ended the game with 12 points to go with three rebounds, two steals, and an assist in close to 23:30 minutes of action.
The 5-foot-10 guard feels that he has already adjusted to Derrick Pumaren’s system in his first season in Taft. However, he shared that he can do better and that there is still more room for improvement in his game.
“I feel naman I’ve adjusted but I don’t think this is a good game. Because I’m looking at my stats and I had like three turnovers with one assist. I feel like I got outplayed by Jerom Lastimosa so I don’t count this as a good game,” said Nelle about the Adamson senior who finished with 15 points and seven assists.
“I just made a big shot that’s why it looks like a good game.”
And by the way things are going, it seems like this Green Archer is on his way to finding his Red Lion form.
