CUP cager Rutger Acidre passes away

City University of Pasay Green Eagles guard Rutger Acidre and his girlfriend Doris Sara Besana passed away after being gunned down by still-unknown assailants. Acidre was 24.

The official Facebook page of the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities announced the unfortunate news.

“Rutger was gunned down together with his girlfriend and both did not make it. We will be supplying wake and funeral details once available. Meanwhile, let us all pray for those they left behind and that justice be served,” the league said in a statement.

According to multiple accounts, Acidre and his girlfriend were shot in Sto. Nino, Pasay City last October 24.

Besana was declared dead last October 25. Acidre held on a while longer before passing away late October 31.

Rutger, brother of now-Bacoor Striker Rocky, was part of the 3×3 team that won the NBA 3X Philippines Men’s Open Division from 2013-16.
