UP breaks through in PFFWL as Stallion Laguna soars to top

University of the Philippines, Stallion Laguna, Makati, and Capital1 all secured full points as the 2025 PFF Women’s League heads into its fourth week at the SM Mall of Asia Football Pitch.

Saturday featured an all-UAAP showdown, with UP edging out University of Santo Tomas, 2-1.

Patricia Espinosa broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, followed by Isalyn Tundag doubling the lead in the 66th.

Although UST’s Stephanie Logastua managed to pull one back in stoppage time, it proved too late to spark a comeback for the España-based squad.

In another closely-contested match, Stallion Laguna overcame the Solar Strikers with a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to a 59th-minute penalty conversion by Chandler McDaniel.

The victory marked Stallion’s third straight win, giving the Laguna-based club a perfect nine points and placing them atop the league standings.

Despite that loss, Capital1 entered the weekend on a high after routing UP, 5-0, the previous Sunday.

Five different players found the back of the net in that dominant performance — Marienell Cristobal (6’), Judie Arevalo (43’), Arianna Del Moral (54’), Angelica Teves (65’), and Emma Young (82’).

Makati continued to impress, notching their second consecutive victory with a commanding 4-0 win over UST.

Super sub Nafeeza Nori sparked the offense with goals in the 57th and 77th minutes, while Veronica Appiah (49’) and Mikaela Villacin (91’) also added their names to the scoresheet.

The league now heads into a Holy Week break, with matches set to resume on Sunday, April 27.

The day will feature a highly anticipated clash between undefeated sides Makati FC and Stallion Laguna FC at 4:30 PM, followed by Kaya FC taking on the University of the Philippines at 7:00 PM.
