Kevin Quiambao had a spectacular rookie campaign in the Korean Basketball League, showcasing his versatility and poise on the professional stage.
While he wasn’t able to completely turn around Goyang Sono’s fortunes — finishing with a 19-35 record for eighth place — Quiambao became a beacon of hope for the Skygunners.
In 23 games, the 6-foot-6 forward posted impressive averages of 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s promising young stars.
Now back in the Philippines for a brief break, the 23-year-old is taking time to recharge.
But it won’t be long before he’s on the move again.
According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, the former La Salle standout is preparing to head to the United States from June to July — not just for training, but to pursue a spot on an NBA Summer League roster.
The NBA Summer League is scheduled to take place from July 10 to 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
One source told Tiebreaker Times that the trip has the full backing of Sono’s management. In fact, Sono International president Lee Kwangsoo is expected to accompany Quiambao during the U.S. stint.
Another source revealed that two prominent sports patrons in the Philippines have also committed to helping fund Quiambao’s journey, underlining the strong support behind his NBA dream.
Still, this overseas opportunity won’t sever Quiambao’s ties with the Skygunners — he remains under contract with the team until 2027.
It will also have no bearing on his commitment to the Gilas Pilipinas national team, as the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 is slated for August in Saudi Arabia.
