Team Falcons PH barged back into the winning column with a dominant 2-0 sweep against Smart Omega in MPL Philippines Season 15 on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
After a tough 1-2 loss against Team Liquid PH just a day prior, Team Falcons looked like a well-oiled machine against Omega.
During the team’s post-match interview, Team Falcons head coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez credited the victory to co-captains Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo and Kyle Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel for managing their teammates’ emotions, particularly in high-intensity moments.
“Tingin ko, mas kumakalma yung mga players kapag sinisita ng dalawang captains. Gumanda lang yung shotcall namin tapos kalmado lang kami sa laro. Kasi nung last time, para ano eh, sobrang ingay ng shotcall namin eh,” Trebor remarked.
“Parang yun nagpanalo samin, yung kalmadong shotcall lang.”
Although Game 1 lasted 22 minutes and 56 seconds, Team Falcons took control of the map as Omega had no way of stopping Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson’s Joy. He recorded 10 kills and three assists without a single death.
In the following game, it was Marco “Super Marco” Requitano’s turn to demolish Omega. His Moskov had 100% kill participation, finishing with seven kills and eight assists.
Building on the momentum of this matchup, Team Falcons will look to halt ONIC Philippines’ five-game winning streak when they go head-to-head on April 4 at 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Omega will try to end its own losing skid as it seeks to secure its second win of the tournament against TNC Pro Team on the second day of Week 6.
