Regine Arocha has made a name for herself with her incredible approach to every game
The incoming third-year Arellano Lady Chief was a revelation in the Lady Chief’s championship run in NCAA Season 92.
During her rookie year, Arocha was merely a service specialist, but slowly gained head coach Obet Javier’s trust. Come Season 92, Arocha earned in the spot in the starting six and helped the Lady Chiefs take down the thrice-to-beat San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags in the Finals.
In the Premiere Volleyball League, Arocha again found herself vying for minutes with the Power Smashers. Recently, however, Arocha has shown a clutch gene that has helped the Power Smashers stay alive in the PVL semis.
In Game One of their series against Pocari Sweat, Arocha hopped off the bench and provided a spark that jolted the Power Smashers to a comeback. While they failed to win that match, Arocha replicated the same effort in Game Two, pulling the Power Smashers to a thrilling five-set triumph.
While her four points do not seem like much, her fresh legs, defensive acumen, and timely scoring played a huge role in another Power Smashers rally from behind.
For her part, Arocha is just happy that her contributions translated into a big win.
Parang gusto ko pong maglaro at bumawi, para punan yung mga pagkakamali, ganun,” said the winger, who hails from Angono, Rizal.
With a win on Thursday, the Power Smashers can eliminate the defending champions and book a ticket to the Finals. And Arocha will undoubtedly be a factor on the outcome of that match once again.
“Kailangan po namin mag-training. Yung mga pagkakamali namin at kakulangan namin, mapag-aralan namin sa training, para pagdating ng Thursday, ma-execute namin ng maayos at magawa namin ang dapat naming gawin,” the one-time NCAA champion closed.
