After a lackluster Game One, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers delivered a signature performance to extend the 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference Finals.
The Cargo Movers played decisively in Game Two, stifling an erstwhile-unblemished Petron squad. At the forefront were the Cargo Movers’ open hitters Ara Galang and Cha Cruz-Behag.
The Invitational Cup Most Valuable Player Galang fired in a game-high 20 points. Meanwhile, team captain Cruz-Behag managed an all-around line of 13 points, 25 digs, and 15 excellent receptions.
Both are products of the famed De La Salle University Lady Spikers program – as are the other Cargo Movers. As a result, their do-or-die situations was nothing new.
“Pinaalala ni coach (Ramil De Jesus) kung sino talaga kami, kung ano kaya naming gawin. And nagkaroon kami ng kumpyansa sa sarili, sa bawat isa, and kumpiyansa para sa kasama, at malasakit din,” said Cruz-Behag, herself a four-time UAAP champion.
“Kaya nakuha namin yung Game Two, and may focus kami and may goal kami na makuha yung Game Three.”
“Parang ginawa naming lesson din ‘yung Game One, tsaka nag-move on, nag-move forward kami. So this Game Two, nag-focus kami sa ability ng bawat isa sa amin. ‘Yung team work talaga, kailangan eh, tsaka ‘yung kumpyansa sa sarili,” added Galang, a three-time UAAP gold medalist.
‘So ayun, mag-start sa sarili mo hanggang sa mag-tulong-tulong na kayo ng bawat isa sa loob ng court. And yung pag-apply namin sa mga natututunan namin, sa experience namin sa buong paglalaro namin.”
Now in a winner-take-all situation, the pair know it will take a combined effort to clinch their fourth PSL championship.
“Bilog bola, pero siyempre we’ll take advantage of the momentum that we have. Alam namin na Petron, babawi din sila.
“We’ll also do double effort, kung hanggang kailan man, ubusan talaga kung ubusan. Kung anong kaya nila, kaya din namin and makikipag-sabayan kami sa kanila,” said the 30-year-old Cruz-Behag.
“‘Di kami magiging relaxed kahit nakuha namin itong Game Two. Kinuha naman namin itong Game Two kasi gusto namin makuha yung Game Three, so yung mindset namin, dodoblehin pa namin, kung ano yung mga preparation namin for this Game Two,” the 23-year-old Galang asserted.
“Since Game Three na nga, last na, lahat talaga all out na, lahat talaga ibibigay na namin, lahat ng mga natutunan namin, lahat ng paghihirap, lahat ng paghuhugutan namin, ibibigay na namin doon.”
