Jerry Yee returned on the sidelines after contracting a viral infection that kept him out of the team’s last four games in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
Yee had taken a leave of absence following the squad’s opening game to focus on his health.
He said he still has a few medical procedures ahead, but is healthy enough to return to the court with the Thunderbelles.
“Yes naman. Okay naman since the discharge. Buti, hindi na kailangan ang mga procedures. It’s a viral infection pala, so ayun,” Yee said.
He made his return during the Thunderbelles’ straight-set, 23-25, 23-25, 13-25 loss to PLDT, where they went toe-to-toe with the reigning PVL on Tour and Invitational champions in the first two sets before getting blown out in the third.
Yee was also present during College of Saint Benilde’s loss to Letran in the NCAA last Sunday.
He noted that ZUS Coffee is still working to regain its full form and adjust to the absence of rookie middle blocker AC Miner, who had been a key contributor to their run to the finals in the PVL Reinforced Conference.
The Thunderbelles have now lost five of their last six games to start the tournament, but still have a chance at making the top four if they win their remaining matches.
“We’re trying to get everybody back. Pati ‘yung game, ‘yung pattern. Recovering,” said the veteran coach.
“Malaking bagay yung mga nawala sa amin na players, pero ‘yan ang line-up natin. Maraming bago, so we’re trying to incorporate everybody into the rotation, kung anong rotation that will work for us. And yes, me, kababalik-balik ko lang din sa practice.”
