Eya Laure return sparks Choco Mucho to snap skid, outlasts Galeries in PVL AFC

Eya Laure made a triumphant return as Choco Mucho snapped a three-game skid, emerging victorious in a grueling five-set battle over Galeries Tower, 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 25-13, 15-12, in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Filoil Centre.

Laure, who missed their loss to Capital1 after aggravating an abdominal injury, came up with 18 points in her return, built on 14 attacks, two kill blocks, and two service aces. She also had seven excellent receptions.

Sisi Rondina matched Laure’s output with 18 points as well, all from attacks, to go along with 13 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions to finish with a triple-double in the two-hour, 10-minute victory.

The win allowed the Flying Titans to get back on track and improve their record to 2-3. They have tied the Highrisers and Farm Fresh at the sixth spot, following successive losses at the hands of Cignal, Creamline, and Capital1.

“Siyempre kasi lagi ko namang sinasabi rin kina Ate kanina na pinaghirapan na maabot sa fifth set, so trabahuhin na namin and i-keep namin ‘yung ano na magtulungan sa isa’t isa,” said Laure.

Choco Mucho dug themselves out of a 5-8 hole midway through the fifth set, until Laure ignited a 5-0 run that flipped the scoreboard. That gave them a 10-8 lead and breathed life into the squad, setting the stage for a thrilling finish.

Jean Asis and Erika Deloria quickly tied it at 10-all with a sharp off-the-block hit and quick attack, but a costly service error from Asis swung the momentum back to the Flying Titans.

The drama only intensified as the teams battled back and forth, deadlocked at 12-all.

Another service miscue by Deloria, followed by Rondina tooling the block, pushed Choco Mucho to match point. The final twist came on a tense mid-rally challenge: Gayle Pascual’s net foul was called, sealing the victory and sending the Flying Titans home triumphant.

Lorraine Pecana finished with 15 points on seven attacks, four kill blocks, and four service aces, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat registered 11 points. Thang Ponce was her usual self with 26 excellent digs.

Choco Mucho looks to make it two wins in a row against Nxled on Tuesday, 4:00 PM at the same venue.

Meanwhile, Deloria paced the gutsy Highrisers with 19 points and nine excellent receptions, while Asis added 15 points on nine attacks and five kill blocks.

Galeries Tower will go up against Creamline also on Tuesday at 6:30 PM.
