Motolite are expected to field a weakened line-up for the remainder of the first round of the PVL Reinforced Conference Season 3.
Bosnian import Edina Selimovic has confided that she will be out for quite some time.
“I will be out for at least a week,” said Selimovic, who scored 15 points in Motolite’s loss against PacificTown.
In an update by Motolite Volleyball, the team’s official Twitter account, Selimovic will miss their second game due to a bruised kneecap. She will have to undergo laser therapy.
“Edina only suffered a bruised kneecap that caused muscle spasms. She will undergo laser therapy only,” the tweet read.
According to Motolite head coach Air Padda, the culprit for the injury was a bad landing in the fourth set of their curtain-raiser.
“The muscle in the back of her knee pushed her knee cap forward. She landed incorrectly last night in the fourth set,” Padda recounted. “So, she will be out for at least a week.
“But I think she will miss the whole first round.”
In their first game without Selimovic, Motolite succumbed to the Petro Gazz Angels in another three-set loss.
With the momentarily loss of key cogs Selimovic and Myla Pablo early this season, the American mentor braces for a tough first-round stretch for Motolite, who will heavily rely on Channon Thompson for the rest of the first round. Given this, all she can do is hope for her players’ swift recovery.
“It’s going to be a tough match-up because we only have one import playing,” the former Adamson coach expressed. “Edina won’t come back until at least a week.
“And even after that, all I can do is hope that she could come back and play.”
