Ynot emphasizes room for improvement despite Fnatic ONIC’s historic playoff qualification

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

As Fnatic ONIC Philippines secured the first playoff berth in MPL Philippines Season 14 with an impressive 8-0 record – sitting at the top of the standings as early as Week 5 of the regular season – head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin believes his team still has more to offer.

Despite their strong performance, Ynot emphasized that the team is not getting complacent. They remain focused on improvement, hopeful that their current form is not yet their peak.

Their early playoff qualification also set a new MPL-PH record, becoming the fastest team to secure a playoff spot, surpassing ECHO’s previous record set in Season 12, which was clinched on Week 5, Day 2.

“Actually, hindi pa [nasa top form]. Hindi pa. Katulad nga ng sabi ni King kanina sa stage, ang dami pa naming ginagawa sa scrims na hindi pa nailalabas. Pero apart from that, every single day, bago kami matulog, it’s a question of ‘Nag-improve ba ako ngayong araw?’'” Ynot shared during the post-match interview.

“Tomorrow when we wake up, ‘What do I have to do today for me to improve?'”

He continued, “Umaasa kami na sana nga hindi pa namin peak ‘to, hindi pa namin ceiling. Mahaba pa [ang season] eh.”

Ynot also underscored that no matter how the season unfolds, even if the team underperforms, he remains fully committed to the current roster.

He reaffirmed his trust in the players, expressing no intention to make any roster changes, even through the Global Transfer System.

“I don’t think so. You can reverse the standings, make it 0-8 or 1-7, whatever. This is the team that I signed up for. These are the people I trust consistently. These are the people that I’ve had my son and kumbaga iwanan ko siya diyan, I am very sure na aalagaan nila. Yun yung level ng pagsasamahan namin,” he explained.

Ynot made it clear that despite Brian “Spider-Milez” Santos not being part of the active roster, he has no plans to replace him.

“Even with Milez not playing, I wouldn’t replace him. Not ever,” he concluded.
