ONIC PH bounces back at Omega’s expense, takes solo second in MPL PH

By: George Torno

ONIC Philippines regained their momentum after sweeping Smart Omega, 2-0, in Week 4 of the MPL Philippines Season 16 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

The defending world champions bounced back from their previous loss to improve their record to 4-2 and secure solo second place.

For coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin, it all came down to the team’s execution.

“They (OMG) might have given us so many OP heroes, and I think malaking factor din yung lane ni Ryota kasi winning lane yun eh,” he said.

“Maganda kasi talaga yung execution nila (ONIC) eh,” he stressed.

In Game 1, ONIC Philippines found their breakthrough after claiming the second Lord of the match.

Borris “Brusko” Parro’s (Grock) Tectonic Charge set up Nowee “Ryota” Macasa’s (Arlott) Flicker–Final Slash combo in the 15th minute, picking off Dean “Raizen” Sumagui’s Yi Sun-shin to give them a 1-0 lead.

By Game 2, the Sonics continued to dominate, securing all three Turtles while building a 9,100 gold lead by the 11th minute.

ONIC never felt threatened the rest of the way to complete the sweep.

ONIC will face TNC Pro Team on Sunday, September 14, at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
