Twisted Minds pulled off another remarkable victory, staging a 2-1 reverse sweep over ONIC Philippines in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 16 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.
The win snapped their two-game skid and lifted Twisted Minds to 4-2, vaulting them past ONIC (3-2) for the top spot in the standings.
With Michael “MP the King” Endino not being able to play due to sickness, head coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplza was forced to go with Stephen “Sensui” Castillo, which translated into a masterful win against ONIC Philippines.
“Nung nalaman naming hindi makakalaro si MP, sabi ko, ikaw Sensui ang lalaro. Yung ni-ready nating draft, wala na yan. Talagang mag-iiba tayong playstyle,” he said.
“Ang kinaganda non, kahit tayo, di alam kung saan mauuwi yung draft. Ano pa kaya yung kalaban, di ba? Yun yung kinaganda. Go rin sila (players ko). Saka sobrang nag-step up din talaga si Sensui.”
ONIC, the reigning M-Series world champions, dominated the opener behind Borris “Brusko” Parro’s (Kalea) setups with Tsunami Slam, cruising to a 14-minute win.
The 22-year-old roamer anchored his squad’s defense, tallying a 1-4-9 KDA as ONIC closed out Game 1 with a commanding 13-5 kill count.
But Twisted Minds roared back in Game 2, building a 7,000 gold lead before Mico “Nosia” Guevarra (Beatrix) unleashed a triple kill that fueled a 5-for-2 exchange in the 11th minute, evening the series at 1-1.
The decider came down to a chaotic clash in the 23rd minute. Nosia, this time on Harith, delivered a double kill to spark three unanswered takedowns and secure the Lord.
That swing proved decisive as Twisted Minds mounted a base turret siege a minute later to seal the reverse sweep.
Twisted Minds return to action on Saturday, September 13, against TNC Pro Team.
