Chris Ross provided the third triple-double performance of the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Sunday night.
Versus the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Ross had 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. He is the third player – behind TNT KaTropa’s duo of Jayson Castro and Terrence Jones – to notch a triple-double outing in this mid-season joust.
Too bad that the do-it-all guard and the San Miguel Beermen could not celebrate, as they lost, 107-110.
“I like to win, man.
“I don’t really care about stats – I like to win,” said Ross, who also racked up three steals.
But despite the disappointing loss — the Beermen’s third in four outings – Ross believes their performance versus the crowd darlings is a good sign that they will play better in the next games.
San Miguel were actually down four in regulation, until Alex Cabagnot and Charles Rhodes stepped up to send the game into OT. They also knocked within two in extra period, but the breaks of the game did not go their way.
“It was a good game. Both teams played well and they just made one more play than we did. So it’s still early in the conference, but I feel like we’re shaking off that hangover a little bit and we’re starting to play a lot better,” he said.
“So this is a good game for us even though we lost, we didn’t come out on top. But it’s a good stepping stone for us as far as playing well, and getting everybody back healthy and back from suspensions, and having a full roster,” the two-time Defensive Player of the Year added.
“So we should be able to start playing better from here on out.”
