The local basketball community lost one of its most fierce competitors on Wednesday.
Antero “Terry” Saldana (January 17, 1958-February 1, 2023) passed away due to kidney failure.
He was 65.
A product of Letran High School and University of Santo Tomas, Saldana ended up being an ironman in his pro career that lasted for 18 years.
A workhorse, he the 6-foot-3 big man, who was known as the “Plastic Man” due to his length, was a key cog in Toyota’s two championship run in 1982.
He would then play for Ginebra, Alaska, Pop Cola, Shell, Batangas in the MBA, before finishing his career with Red Bull.
All in all, he wound up with five PBA championships.
In 2018, Saldana was part of Wang’s Basketball’s coaching staff in the PBA D-League.
