The Philippine Women’s National Futsal Team endured another tough loss in its 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup campaign, falling 3-0 to regional rival Vietnam, Friday at the Hohhot Sports Centre in China.
After a scoreless first half, Trinh Nguyen Thanh Hang broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, slipping past Filipina5 goalkeeper Samantha Hughes to give Vietnam the lead.
Vietnam continued to dominate in the second half, with Tran Thi Thu Xuan doubling the advantage in the 33rd minute.
Le Thi Thanh Ngan then sealed the victory with a penalty in the final moments of the match.
Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Filipina5 had opportunities to find the back of the net.
Far Eastern University legend Dionesa Tolentin and former University of Santo Tomas standout Hazel Lustan both had chances to break the drought, but their attempts came up short.
Both teams will wrap up their Group B campaigns on Sunday at the same venue.
Vietnam, which has already secured a spot in the quarterfinals with six points and sits atop the group, will face Iran at 5:00 PM.
Meanwhile, the Philippines will take on Hong Kong at 11:00 AM, hoping to secure a spot in the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams.
