Jonathan Ng, Vice Chairman and CEO of the Republic Biscuit Corporation Group of Food Companies, will be honored as the Executive of the Year at the first-ever Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night on May 28 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Quezon City.
Ng has transformed the Rebisco brand into more than just a household name in snacks—it has become synonymous with a winning culture in Philippine volleyball.
As one of the country’s most accomplished business leaders, Ng applied his sharp business acumen to sports, helping build one of the most successful volleyball franchises in the country. His efforts culminated in the Creamline Cool Smashers achieving the PVL’s first-ever grand slam in 2024.
Ng earned the award—presented by Arena Plus—after garnering a total of 12.8 points, composed of 9.6 media votes and 3.2 team votes from the head coaches and captains of the 12 PVL teams.
Petro Gazz owner Ricky Villavicencio, who guided the Angels to their first All-Filipino Conference title last April, placed second with 5.8 total points, while Akari team executive Christopher Tiu, whose Chargers earned a silver in the Reinforced and a bronze in the All-Filipino Conference, ranked third with 4.4 points.
Since the establishment of Rebisco’s first volleyball club in 2017, the company has built the PVL’s most successful team—Creamline, which now boasts 10 championships, including a clean sweep of the 2024 PVL season by winning the All-Filipino, Reinforced, and Invitational Conferences.
Ng’s tenure also saw the rise of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, who captured back-to-back silver medals in the All-Filipino Conference in 2023 and 2024.
A testament to Ng’s impact on the sport, Creamline and Choco Mucho set a record-breaking gate attendance of 24,459 fans in Game 2 of the 2023-24 PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals—the highest ever for a volleyball match in the country.
Beyond the women’s game, Ng expanded Rebisco’s footprint by launching a men’s team, Criss Cross, which has reached the finals in three consecutive Spikers’ Turf conferences since its inception, finishing each time with a silver medal.
Ng and Rebisco’s management also played a key role in reinforcing Creamline’s roster during the 2024 season. American outside hitter Erica Staunton teamed up with local stars Bernadeth Pons and Michele Gumabao to lead the Cool Smashers through an injury-plagued campaign to complete the grand slam.
Staunton continued her leadership into the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League, where she was joined by Russian opposite hitter Anastasya Kudryashova and Kazakh middle blocker Anastassiya Kolomoyets to represent Creamline on the continental stage.
True to his leadership style, Ng has cultivated a tight-knit bond among Rebisco’s volleyball teams—Creamline, Choco Mucho, and Criss Cross—encouraging them to support each other like family, especially during challenging moments on and off the court.
