Stallion Laguna remains atop the PFF Women’s League standings, holding a slim one-point lead over close rivals Kaya-Iloilo after both teams delivered dominant wins last weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Football Pitch.
Kaya-Iloilo turned up the heat in the title race by thrashing University of Santo Tomas, 7-0, to kick off Saturday’s action.
Julissa Cisneros once again spearheaded the offensive barrage, recording her third consecutive hat-trick of the season with goals in the 59th, 60th, and 70th minutes.
She was joined on the scoresheet by Carmela Altiche (23′), Lyka Cuenco (49′), Camille Rodriguez (82′), and Janly Fontamillas (90+2′).
In response, Stallion Laguna cruised to a 6-0 rout of University of the Philippines, mirroring their rivals’ dominant performance with five different players scoring.
Chandler McDaniel led the charge with a brace (58′, 70′), while Megan Janikowski (9′), Alyssa Ube (16′), Sierra Castles (55′), and Kala McDaniel (61′) rounded out the scoring.
Saturday’s triple-header also featured a clash between the league’s newest but equally competitive squads, as the Capital1 Solar Strikers stunned Makati FC with a 3-1 upset.
Arianna Del Moral opened the scoring for Capital1 in the 3rd minute, capitalizing on a scramble inside the box. Judie Arevalo then doubled the lead in the 41st minute with a stunning volley, before substitute Arantxa Trebol made an immediate impact — scoring with her first touch of the match in the 88th minute.
Makati FC refused to go down without a fight and were eventually rewarded for their persistence, as Sheva Furyzcha netted a consolation goal in the dying moments of stoppage time.
The PFF Women’s League action continues on Saturday, May 10, at the same venue in Pasay.
Capital1 will take on UST at 4:30 PM, followed by Makati FC’s clash against Kaya-Iloilo at 7:00 PM.
