A Filipino sports brand will raise the flag in the US.
As of last October 9, 2019, the products of local sportswear company Team Rebel Sports Pilipinas will now be readily available in the US market. This comes after Rebel Sports USA, headed by Steve Bottcher, completed its acquisition of Team Rebel Direct (TRD).
With this, Team Rebel USA will be the exclusive carrier of the brand in all 50 states.
According to Bottcher, the acquisition of the rights to distribute official Rebel gear and be called “market-direct” is important in the US market.
“I think the product was well-embraced through the Rebel brand. The only thing was the market changed because people like buying direct. The thing is seeing that we are losing customers to China-direct or Pakistan-direct, having that direct source and seeing that you are the manufacturer means the world to the end buyers,” said Rebel Sports USA President Bottcher.
“With Steve on board, we now have a direct link to the US market,” added Team Rebel Pilipinas owner Joel Cu, who started the brand as a brick-and-mortar business back in the late 1990’s in San Juan. “His vision is unparalleled and we trust him in leading Rebel to new heights in the coming years.”
Currently, Rebel Sports USA is the official sportswear of US-based leagues Women’s Football Alliance, Gridiron Developmental Football League, Independent Women’s Football League, and Great Midwest Football League.
Bottcher has high goals to expand Team Rebel’s reach in the US. His promise to the US customers is to do what the major brands can’t do for them, which is to deliver products that won’t sacrifice quality while also staying in constant communication with the clients — whom he treats as partners.
“I see Rebel competing with the top brands in the US, as it could take advantage of the failures of the top brands. They can’t deliver anything and to try to grow their brand, they cheapened everything else that they are doing. I don’t want to do that. What I want is quality and delivering expectations,” Bottcher vows.
Rebel Sports USA’s headquarters is located in Hanover, Maryland.
