Roosevelt Adams can now tell Pasig pals that he has played in 3X3 Challenger

He’s only been in the Philippines for about six months, but Roosevelt Adams’ stay is already looking fruitful.

He was first part of Mighty Sports and saw action in Dubai last February. Then he became a solid provider for the Go for Gold Scratchers in the recently-concluded PBA D-League. Now, Adams is now making waves in Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3.

And he’s been making quite a splash in the ongoing Patriots’ Cup, enough that he and his Phenom Basilan Steel will see action in the 2019 Hongxiang Holdings Group Haining Challenger this weekend. They will carry the the Isabela City Chooks banner.

The Haining Challenger serves as the qualifier for the FIBA 3×3 Montreal Masters in Canada.

“Man, these six months have been crazy,” said the lengthy Fil-Am guard. “First coming from Mighty Sports, and then the PBA D-League, and now 3×3. It’s just blessings on top of blessings.

“Im’ma feel this opportunity and go for it.”

This will be Adams’ first time to play in a 3×3 Challenger. He’s clearly thrilled with this opportunity, as he now has the chance to do what his good friends Taylor Statham, Troy Rike, and Joshua Munzon have done.

The trio will see action in the Poitiers Challenger in France next weekend – the qualifiers for Lausanne Masters.

“We always compete against each other all the time, and now we’re all in Chooks-to-Go. And we’re all representing for one thing: the country.

“It’s a blessing,” said Adams. “I’m excited and they are for sure excited to play in France.

“So we’re all gonna give our best,” he continued.

Adams and the Steel are coming off a good run in the second leg of the Patriots’ Cup. They made it all the way to the final round, only to fall to Indian club VetHealth-Delhi 3BL thanks to a game-winner by Kiran Shastri.

Adams wanted to win, but he also believes that that stinging loss to the 15th-ranked ball club is part of the process. And that’s why he’s eager to show in the Haining Challenger what they have been learning so far.

“Obviously we wanted to come out on top, but it was a heartbreaker. But at the end of the day, we’re learning from our losses and we’re getting better. We’re excited to show off what we have been learning.”
