The Abra Solid North Weavers leaned on DJ Fenner to turn back the Quezon Huskers, 82-77, on Monday to extend their winning streak in the MPBL 2026 Season at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The 6-foot-6 Fenner delivered 31 points, highlighted by five triples, along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists to power the defending champions past their National Finals rivals and stay in the hunt for playoff positioning in the two-division, 28-team tournament.
With their ninth straight win, Abra improved to 11-1, overtaking San Juan (10-1) and closing in on Caloocan (13-1) in the North Division standings. Quezon, meanwhile, suffered its first loss after nine consecutive wins but remained on top of the South Division.
Fenner, a former UNLV standout, already had 16 points in the opening quarter as Abra took a 29-25 lead. He later knocked down two pressure free throws that pushed the margin to 82-75 with 37.4 seconds left, sealing the victory and earning Best Player of the Game honors.
Dave Ildefonso, returning from injury, added 15 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds, while Drex Delos Reyes chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Mike Ayonayon and Raven Gonzales contributed 6 points each, with Gonzales also grabbing 3 rebounds.
Quezon briefly held the upper hand, 57-56, before Ferrer sparked a 7-2 closing run in the third quarter that gave Abra a 70-65 advantage heading into the final frame.
The Weavers could have built a wider gap, but struggled from the free-throw line, making just 13 of 29 attempts (44.8 percent). However, they made up for it from deep, sinking 11 of 24 three-pointers for 45.8 percent shooting.
Late free throws from Will McAloney and consecutive inside hits by Jolo Manansala cut the deficit to 75-78, but Gonzales scored inside before Fenner closed out the game.
Quezon was led by Cedric Manzano with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists, Judel Fuentes with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Cyrus Tabi with 11 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
In the second game, the Pasay Voyagers overpowered the Bacolod Masskaras, 100-78, to improve to 8-6.
