Rhyle Melencio out for UAAP 86 due to ACL tear

One of De La Salle University’s promising rookies will not be able to compete in his freshman year.

Rhyle Melencio has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, which has ruled him out for UAAP Season 86.

He underwent successful surgery last Friday.

The 19-year-old forward was a member of the UAAP Season 85 Mythical Team, with an average of 17.4 points and 14.9 rebounds per game.2023-PSL-18U-Pampanga-vs-Max-Ballers-Rhyle-Melencio Rhyle Melencio out for UAAP 86 due to ACL tear Basketball DLSU News UAAP - philippine sports news

In preparation for the UAAP, Melencio juggled playing for De La Salle University and Pampanga. However, the demanding schedule proved too much for his young body to handle.

The 6-foot-4 second-generation cager tore his ACL while warming up for a Green Archers practice early last week.
