Chery Tiggo rediscovered its winning form with a 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 victory over Farm Fresh in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Coming off a stinging reverse sweep defeat to the Petro Gazz Angels, the Crossovers returned to the win column.
They improve their record to 5-3, moving into a tie for fourth place with Choco Mucho.
Ara Galang led Chery Tiggo’s onslaught in the second to fourth frames, totaling 20 points on 15 attacks, four blocks, and one ace — a huge improvement compared to her four points last time out.
“Siguro personally, may hugot din ako kasi last game nga, wala akong masyadong na-contribute eh,” said Galang, reflecting on her determination to redeem herself.
“So yung mindset ko talaga ngayon hindi pwedeng ganun lang. Hindi pwedeng hindi ako makabangon doon sa last game.”
Cess Robles led all scorers for the Crossovers with 21 points, featuring 15 spikes, three aces, and two blocks, complemented by eight digs.
Cza Carandang also made a solid contribution with 12 points.
“Nag-usap-usap kami na siyempre, sayang nga yung third set na nangyari. So kami, di pwedeng mangyari ulit sa amin yun kasi yun ulit yung mangyayari sa amin. So ngayon ginawa namin lahat para manalo kami ng four sets,” said Robles, emphasizing their resolve to avoid repeating past mistakes.
Despite missing main libero Jen Nierva, who sustained a knee injury in their previous game, Chery Tiggo’s defense held firm.
Karen Verdeflor stepped up admirably in Nierva’s absence, tallying 24 digs and nine excellent receptions.
For Farm Fresh, Trisha Tubu was the lone bright spot, finishing with 15 points as the Foxies slipped to a 3-4 record and eighth place in the standings.
Alyssa Bertolano chipped in nine points, while Jolina dela Cruz — coming off a 20-point outing against Nxled last Saturday — was limited to just seven.
Both teams will return to action on Thursday at the Philsports Arena. Chery Tiggo will take on ZUS Coffee, while Farm Fresh will face Galeries Tower.
