ONE Championship announced Monday that the martial arts league has closed a USD 166-million Series D financing round led by Sequoia Capital.
New investors, including Temasek, Greenoaks Capital, and other leading institutional investors, also participated in the round. ONE now has a total capital base that exceeds USD 250-million.
ONE, a promotion that launched back in 2011, has held 74 events to date.
In 2018, ONE horizontally integrated into the striking arts with the Super Series. Besides promoting mixed martial arts events, the league also featured kickboxing and muay thai bouts in their cards.
Just last October 6, a WBC World Championship match headlined a card that saw Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (47-4-1) retain his Super Flyweight crown over Iran Diaz (14-3-3).
ONE is also planning to extend the Super Series to other striking arts — including Silat, Wushu, Sanda, and Lethwei.
“ONE Championship being the home of martial arts, Asia being the home of martial arts, it’s a way for us to celebrate across the entire continent. We want to showcase Lethwei, which we have, showcase Silat, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Wushu, Sanda, Kung Fu, all the beautiful arts of Asia, this is what I want to showcase,” said ONE Chairman Chatri Sityodtong.
