La Salle throws full support behind Aldin Ayo

Still reeling from the heartbreaking loss they received at the hands of the Ateneo Blue Eagles during the Finals of the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Basketball tournament, the officials of the De La Salle University and the management of the Green Archers are hoping that the entire community rally together as one.

During the midst of their campaign, reports circulated that Ayo, who is in his second year in La Salle, will be tapped to steer the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers after the season. Moreover, one of the reports cited that the alumni of the school are disgruntled with him.

The statement though debunked this, saying that they are standing behind their head coach who steered them to a gold medal finish in Season 79 and another podium finish a year later.

“Management is firmly behind coach Aldin Ayo and his staff as we start the process of rebuilding for the future,” read the statement that was released by the team and seconded by school officials.

With this, the Green Archers are starting its process to recover and rebuild for the 81st season of the league.UAAP-80-Finals-G3-DLSU-vs.-ADMU-DLSU-2nd-place-1793 La Salle throws full support behind Aldin Ayo Basketball DLSU News UAAP - philippine sports news

“While we fell short of retaining the title, we are humbled by the overwhelming response of both Ateneo and DLSU in the way we accepted defeat in the spirit of sportsmanship with heads unbowed. We stand united as a team to regroup and regain the crown next season.” the statement furthered.

“We will re-assemble to begin practice on January 16, after the holidays, and prepare for the PCCL National Collegiate Championships on February 2-11.”

To close, both parties expressed their wholehearted appreciation for the support the team has received for the entire season. In addition, they vow to learn from this experience to form a stronger-willed team next year.

“We take this opportunity to express our wholehearted appreciation to the Lasallian community for supporting us through thick and thin, through good and bad times,” the statement closed. “Now more than ever, we are strongly committed to bounce back with a resolve that is uncompromising and unflinching.

“We will forever hold our banner high and bright, a shield of Green and White.”
