Kent “Kevier” Lopez was the first to admit that he experienced jitters in Blacklist International’s debut loss to ONIC PH on Friday night.
And it was pretty understandable, considering that he replaced arguably the best jungler in the world in Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario — in the best team in the world — and went up against the second-best jungler also in the world in Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol.
Up against ONIC PH and Kairi, Kevier managed to put up a decent performance but failed to make an impact huge enough to lift Blacklist International on its opening day assignment.
“Game One siyempre nervous kasi first game ko nga sa MPL tapos Game Two ano, parang nawawala na ng konti,” said the 16-year-old rookie in Blacklist International’s post-match press conference after the 1-2 loss.
After a rough opener that saw him tally just two kills and a death on Balmond, Kevier said that the jitters slowly faded when Blacklist International finally got its groove in Game Two.
Despite his 1-0-5 KDA line in the second match, the jungler out of Manila was able to power through and lead the team to a tight win which lasted for 27 minutes and four seconds playing Yi Sun-Shin.
Everything started to fall in place naturally for Kevier in Game Three as he showed his true, aggressive side after playing passively in the first two matches. However, it was not enough to hand Blacklist International the win.
“Tapos parang tina-try ko namang gawin yung best ko tapos nung Game Three dun nawala yung kaba ko e, after manalo nung Game Two,” shared Kevier, who finished with four kills and six assists against one death on Aulus in Game Three.
“Kaya parang ako yung nagbuhat nung Game Three,” he added.
Kevier vowed to atone for his mistakes and shake the jitters off entirely in time for Blacklist International’s match against TNC tomorrow, Saturday at 8:00 PM.
“I think no, not anymore,” said Kevier when asked if he’s still gonna be nervous in the next match.
“Kahit talo ngayon, gagawin ko pa rin yung best ko para makabawi.”
