Kaya-Iloilo’s hopes of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2025–26 AFC Champions League Two took another blow after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Thailand’s BG Pathum on Thursday at the New Clark City Stadium in Tarlac.
BG Pathum, which finished third in the 2024–25 Thai League 1 season, netted a goal in each half to hand the three-time Philippines Football League champion its third straight loss in Group H.
Singaporean standout Jordan Emaviwe broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with a composed left-footed finish, while Japanese import Tomoyuki Doi doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 68th minute with a powerful strike from outside the box.
Kaya’s attack showed flashes of promise, with Jhan-Jhan Melliza, Audie Menzi, Martini Rey, and Mar Vincent Diano all testing the Thai side’s defense.
However, their efforts failed to find the back of the net as BG Pathum’s backline held firm.
The loss kept Kaya at the bottom of Group H with zero points after three matches, while BG Pathum climbed to third place with three points.
Elsewhere in the group, Singapore’s Tampines Rovers claimed a 1-0 victory over South Korea’s Pohang Steelers, moving to the top of the standings with nine points.
Pohang slipped to second with six points.
All four Group H teams will return to action on November 6, with BG Pathum hosting Kaya at the Pathum Thani Stadium in Thailand, while the Pohang Steelers face Tampines Rovers at the Pohang Steel Yard in South Korea.
