Kalei Mau was glad to see the ‘real’ F2 Logistics show up in their final game of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on Tuesday night.
The Cargo Movers, who already bowed out of the Final Four race after their shocking loss to Akari last week, dominated the semis-bound Petro Gazz, 25-16, 25-22, 27-25, to close their campaign at the Philsports Arena.
The 6-foot-2 Filipino-American spiker saved the best for last, scoring six of F2 Logistics’ last eight points in the third set to finish with 20 points on 19 attacks.
Mau shared that their change in approach definitely spelled the difference in the match.
“That’s the team that I know. It’s the team that I’ve been playing with for the past three almost four years,” Mau told reporters after the game.
“I think the difference maker was no pressure, have fun, our game plan was really to do our best and be there for each other. I think we did exactly that and I’m really proud of our team for doing that today,” she added.
With their campaign now over, Mau said that focusing on her conditioning will be her main goal this offseason after she missed a couple of games this conference due to different injuries.
“Get healthy this offseason just like any other offseason, this one I gotta work it a little extra harder,” said Mau, whose parents watched the game.
“I had a lot of injuries that held me back from playing my best this conference. And as upsetting as it is, it’s completely out of control at the moment so I just really have to dial in on rehab, therapy, and just come back stronger.”
The Cargo Movers ended their campaign in fifth place with a 4-4 win-loss standing after taking a leave of absence in two of the last three PVL conferences.
