Sofiah Pagara and Khy Progella punched their ticket to the quarterfinals of the AVC Beach Volleyball Continental last Friday after a dominant straight-sets victory over Hong Kong’s Ngok Ling Tsang and Wong Man Ching in Shangluo, China.
Pagara and Progella cruised past the Hong Kong pair, 21-10, 21-15, to secure a spot in the top eight. They finished second in Pool C with a 2-1 record, with their lone loss coming against Japan’s Asami Shiba and Reika Murakami.
The Alas Pilipinas duo is set to face Australian Olympian Taniqua Clancy and Stefanie Fejes in the quarterfinals later today at 12 p.m.

Meanwhile, Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons bowed out in the Round of 16 after absorbing a 17-21, 27-25, 6-15 defeat to Shiba and Murakami.
The ‘SiPons’ duo proved it could go toe-to-toe with the Japanese pair, but ran out of gas when it mattered most in the deciding set, ending their campaign in the tournament that also serves as an Olympic qualifier for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Rondina and Pons finished with a 1-2 record in Pool E to advance to the Round of 16.
