Ivy Lacsina is looking forward to reuniting on the court with former teammate Mars Alba, who recently signed with Akari midway through the 2025 PVL On Tour.
Lacsina and Alba previously played together at the now-defunct F2 Logistics, where both served as promising young contributors in a veteran-heavy lineup. However, their partnership was short-lived, as the Cargo Movers disbanded at the end of the 2023 season.
Following F2’s exit, Lacsina joined the Chargers, while Alba took her talents to Choco Mucho, where she spent the past two seasons. Now, after parting ways with the Flying Titans, Alba is set to reunite with Lacsina at Akari.
“Hindi po ako excited, charot,” Lacsina joked before flashing a big smile. “Siyempre ako, personally, masaya ako na makakasama ko po ulit si Mars [Alba].”
Beyond a reunion with a close friend, Lacsina expressed genuine excitement about working alongside Alba once again, praising the setter’s maturity and easygoing nature both on and off the court.
“Kasi iba rin po siyang makatrabaho. Mature po siyang tao, at hindi po mahirap pakisamahan si Mars. So alam ko na kapag talagang nakapaglaro na po kami on the court,” said the 6-foot-1 spiker.
Lacsina added that Alba’s competitiveness and fighting spirit will be a valuable asset to the Chargers, who now boast a deep setter rotation that includes Kamille Cal and Bea Bonafe.
“Siguro dahil galing na rin siya kay Coach Ramil — yung fighting spirit niya talaga sa game ay iba. ‘Yun po yung mga masarap kasama sa game. Si Mars naman po talaga, trabaho lang po siya at mabilis mag-communicate sa kanya,” she added.
Lacsina is confident Alba will have a seamless transition at Akari, describing her as someone who quickly adapts and communicates well with teammates.
Their on-court reunion, however, will have to wait a little longer. Alba is still fulfilling her national team duties with Alas Pilipinas before officially joining the Chargers in the PVL.
Still, Lacsina is confident that once Alba suits up, she’ll make an immediate impact and blend in effortlessly with the rest of the team.
