After seven years in the club scene, F2 Logistics has decided to cease the operations of its team, the Cargo Movers.
The company owned by Efren Uy announced on Wednesday evening, citing numerous factors that led to their decision.
“Time has not been good to us.
“A number of injuries to our players forced us to take slower steps, prioritizing health over victories in the past few years. We give our utmost thanks to the coaching staff who have fought and tried to make this team stronger. We would most like to thank Coach Ramil (De Jesus), for continuously heading the team,” read the statement.
The Cargo Movers were formed in 2016, putting together a team of past and present De La Salle University Lady Spikers.
During their time in the Philippine Superliga, F2 dominated, winning five championships before the league shut down in 2021.
The Cargo Movers were the last PSL team to jump ship to the Premier Volleyball League, making their debut in 2022.
However, F2 Logistics could not find the same success in the pros with their best finish coming by way of bronze during the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference.
Still, the team is grateful for the ride.
“As we shift our focus to the grassroots and put to a halt the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, we thank our ever-loyal supporters who have been with the team through the victories and the losses. The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers Volleyball Team has been more than just a sports team; it has been a source of inspiration and pride for us and, we hope, for all of you. We deeply value the relationships built and memories shared with our fans, sponsors, and the entire volleyball community.
“We extend our sincerest appreciation to the Premier Volleyball League and the Philippine Superliga – for providing a platform that allowed us to showcase the talent and dedication of our athletes. These leagues have been instrumental in fostering the growth of volleyball in the Philippines, and we are truly grateful for the support and camaraderie we have experienced,” the team expressed.
“F2 Logistics Cargo Movers has had six championships, four silver finishes, and three bronze finishes in the eight years that we’ve been a team. We have also supported the Philippine national team throughout our journey, allowing our key players to represent the country while playing the sport they love most. We have even bannered the Philippines in the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship held here in the country, going up against internationally renowned powerhouse teams and players,” it continued.
F2 Logistics will continue to support La Salle and University of Perpetual Help while supporting the grassroots programs in the country.
“The bond we have forged in the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is one that has stood the test of time and we will continue to be a family long after that this team is gone. We thank you for standing by us and being part of our journey. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us, and we hope to carry the spirit of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers with us in our future endeavors.”
