Fourth bout with Kevin Belingon is for the fans, says Fernandes

If you ask ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, he would like to move forward from his rivalry with Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon.

But as fate would have it, there is no separating the two.

Fernandes and Belingon will battle for the fourth – and probably last – time at ONE: Century Part II on October 13 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The AMC Pankration standout believes he has nothing more to prove to the Team Lakay hard-hitter. Still, the inconclusive finish to their last bout led to one more match between the storied rivals.

“A lot of people want to see this fight. That’s the reason. The fight is [not] for me, it’s for the fans. I give this fight for the fans – for you guys.” Fernandes said.

“If the [third] fight didn’t end [in that way], I would not care about Kevin anymore, but I believe a lot of Filipinos are not happy. A lot of people want to see the fight,” he added.

“It’s like, ‘Okay, people want to see if you can do better, don’t blow it!’”

With anticipation building up to what will be an explosive conclusion for the warriors, the 39-year-old Brazilian then challenged “The Silencer” to come forward and do justice to the biggest rivalry in ONE history.

“The reason you and me are here right now is to bring the show for the fans. Let it be the best fight of the night,” the defending ONE Bantamweight World Champion said.

“I will go to you, and you come for me. I’m okay with you punching me – I have no problem with that – but come to fight. Don’t try to run. I’ll be there waiting for you. Let’s do it. I believe the fans will love it,” the Vancouver-based athlete added.

“The Flash” said he is willing to exchange with the Filipino, who is known to pack dynamite in his punches and kicks.

Nonetheless, he remains confident that he will end this match on top.

“I would move forward, but with Kevin, I have to be very smart because I know he likes to catch and run. He waits for the moment, and he throws his right hand, he waits for the moment to do his kick,” Fernandes said.

“Because of [his skills], I have to be very smart with the way he fights. He’s a good athlete, but I think I am better than him – For sure I am.”
