Fnatic ONIC PH books M6 slot, secures MPL PH Grand Finals berth

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Fnatic ONIC Philippines became the country’s first representative for the upcoming M6 World Championship after defeating Falcons AP.Bren, 3-1, in the MPL Philippines Season 14 upper bracket finals at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati on Friday.

The victory also secured FNOP a spot in the grand finals, where they will face the winner of the Aurora vs. Blacklist International match, scheduled for later at 7:00 p.m.

The crucial moment came in the decisive Game 4, at the 9:06 mark, when FNOP eliminated two members of FCAP and sealed the game with a straight mid-lane push shortly thereafter.

King “K1NGKONG” Perez emerged as the match MVP after a stellar performance on his Suyou, boasting a perfect KDA of 10 kills, zero deaths, and three assists.

“I think you reaction ko after nung match kanina ay nagtatatalon ako. Again, afterwards we really have to compose ourselves. Not too low, not too high. Kase yun nga, at the end of the day, the job’s not yet done. M6 reps, pero yung ever elusive championship andon pa ren eh. So yun, Sunday, we’ll give it our all. Bukas, practice pa,” said head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin during the post-match interview.

The Sonics opened the series strong, overpowering FCAP and finishing Game 1 in just 12 minutes and 38 seconds, thanks to Duanne “Kelra” Pillas (Beatrix) and K1NGKONG (Suyou), who secured a Triple Kill and a Double Kill, respectively.

In Game 2, FNOP faced a gritty AP.Bren, which made them work hard, extending the match to over 20 minutes. However, the turning point came during the 22-minute Lord skirmish, where K1NGKONG shone once again, this time playing Nolan, with a KDA of five kills, one death, and three assists.

Refusing to let their opponents sweep the series, Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano (Moskov) stepped up for AP.Bren in Game 3, showcasing his versatility across the map with an impressive 74% kill participation rate.
