Fnatic ONIC Philippines has etched its name in the annals of MPL Philippines history following a commanding 2-0 sweep over RSG Philippines on Sunday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
This remarkable achievement establishes an unprecedented 12-0 win streak, surpassing the previous records held by Blacklist International and Team Liquid Philippines (formerly ECHO), who had 11-game win streaks during Seasons 8 and 12, respectively.
After the match, head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Happy naman. Pero as usual, playoffs pa rin ang mahalaga. Pero masaya naman lahat, lalo na kanina. Si Sir Raff, maingay doon sa loob ng cubicle, ang dami niyang nice words na nabanggit.
“If we really want to make a statement, we really want to end the regular season strong.”
In Game 1, Duanne “Kelra” Pillas showcased his skills as Harith, finishing with a flawless record of three kills and two assists in just 13 minutes and 14 seconds. This dominant performance set the tone for the series.
Game 2 was a closely contested affair, with both teams exchanging blows throughout the mid to late game.
RSG initially held the upper hand, led by John “1rrad” Tuazon’s Julian, who secured six kills within the first eight minutes.
However, the turning point came during the first Lord skirmish when King “K1NGKONG” Perez on Ling stole the Lord, evening out the gold lead at 31,500 gold for both teams.
The decisive moment occurred in the 23rd minute when the entire Fnatic ONIC squad executed a team wipe against RSG in the mid-lane, allowing them to push straight for the victory seconds later.
As they head into the final week of the tournament, Fnatic ONIC Philippines aims to extend their win streak further when they face Falcons AP.Bren on October 4 at 7:30 PM.
Currently, RSG Philippines finds itself in seventh place in the standings with a 3-9 record.
If Blacklist International secures a win against TNC Pro Team later at 7:30 PM, the Tier One-backed squad will have a match advantage over RSG with a 4-9 record.
Conversely, if Blacklist loses to TNC, they will fall to a 3-10 record, which would enhance RSG’s chances of making it to the playoffs.
RSG has two matches remaining in Week 7, while Blacklist has only one, making the upcoming games critical for both teams.
