Despite Farm Fresh’s rough start, Trisha Tubu and the rest of the Foxies never lost their focus, leading to two consecutive victories in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference.
Farm Fresh opened the tournament with back-to-back losses to contenders Chery Tiggo and Creamline, respectively. They then snapped the losing streak with a five-set marathon victory over Galeries Tower last Tuesday.
The Foxies sustained their momentum, making quick work of Nxled, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17, to secure their second win in a row and move up to the fourth spot in Pool B with a 2-2 win-loss record.
“Yun po sigurong last game na win po namin, sobrang laking tulong po nun para maiangat ‘yung morale namin. And ‘yun nga po, yung focus namin is talagang never nawala,” said Tubu after the win over the Chameleons on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
Tubu said that Japanese head coach Shota Sato constantly reminded the team to never lose their focus and keep their eyes on the prize.
“Yun yung laging sinasabi ni coach na focus – concentrate every point, every single second of the game,” the 23-year-old native of Concepcion, Tarlac added.
The former Adamson University Lady Falcon delivered 16 points, all from attacks, to help the Foxies grab the victory.
“Tulad nga po ng sabi ko kanina, sobrang laking important po ng teamwork namin ngayon, hindi lang ‘yung import yung pumupuntos, ‘yung team work po namin talaga nabubuo,” said Tubu.
“So kahit ‘yung locals nagco-contribute. ‘Di lang ‘yung first six, pati ‘yung nasa bench namin kaya sobrang sarap sa feeling na unti-unti ‘yung teamwork namin nagiging solid,” she added.
Colombian reinforcement Yeny Murillo continued to lead the charge for Farm Fresh with 22 points.
The Foxies also received solid contributions from Caitlyn Viray and Chinni Arroyo, who logged seven and six points, respectively, in the quick one-hour, 19-minute victory.
