Farm Fresh cruised to its second straight win with ease, dominating Nxled, 25-16, 25-15, 25-17, to even its record in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at Philsports Arena on Saturday.
After a five-set marathon against Galeries last time out, the Foxies took this one in straight sets, improving their standing to 2-2 and securing the fourth spot in Pool A.
“It was a good win for us because we’re becoming more cohesive and we were so focused earlier,” said Farm Fresh head coach Shota Sato through an interpreter.
Despite efforts from Meegan Hart and Jho Maraguinot to level the third set at 12, Yeny Murillo and Trisha Tubu retaliated for the Foxies, sealing the victory.
Colombian import Murillo led Farm Fresh with 22 points on 21-of-35 attacks, while Tubu backed her up with 16 points on an efficient 16-of-28 spikes.
“Yun pong last game na win po namin, sobrang laking tulong po nun para maiangat yung morale namin and yun nga po yung focus namin is talagang never nawala,” said the 5-foot-8 opposite spiker.
The Chameleons, who won their opening day match, have now absorbed their third straight defeat. That brought their record down to 1-3 and placing them fifth, just above the winless Highrisers.
Chiara Permentilla was the lone Nxled player in double figures with 12 points along with 12 excellent receptions.
American middle blocker Meegan Hart had her third straight game without breaching double digits, with just seven points to her name.
Both teams will close out their respective first-round schedules on Thursday, with Farm Fresh facing PLDT at 1:00 PM, then Nxled battling Creamline at 3:00 PM.
These matches were rescheduled from July 25 due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Carina.
