Chris Goulding’s agent Daniel Moldovan did not hold back and slammed Gilas Pilipinas assistant coach Jong Uichico for the latter’s role in the Gilas-Australia brawl on Monday night.
This, despite the veteran bench strategist’s apology on Twitter at around 1:18 AM Tuesday, saying that his emotions “got the better of me like a father who cares about his sons”.
“That does not excuse my actions and I apologize to everyone as in hindsight I should have not gotten involved. This is a painful but maybe necessary lesson for me,” the tweet added.
“Your words are hollow. You didn’t act like a father who cares about his sons,” Moldovan told Australia’s SEN Radio, Tuesday.
“You acted like a classless animal with zero brains.”
Moldovan even called for Uichico to step down from his post. Uichico has been involved with several national teams before – way before Gilas was born nearly a decade ago.
“Hand in your resignation, your country deserves better,” said Moldovan.
Moldovan was clearly shocked over what he and whole world witnessed that Monday night. From a small scuffle between Goulding and Roger Pogoy late in the third, pandemonium erupted.
Thirteen players were booted out, and the Philippines played three versus five before two of their players intentionally fouled out to end the match. The Aussies won by default, 89-53.
