Aaronqt lives out his UAAP dream with La Salle

Few children ever get the chance to live out their childhood dreams.

But for Aaron “Aaronqt” Lim, not only did he achieve his goal of becoming a UAAP player—he did it while proudly wearing the colors of his dream school.

“Since bata pa gusto ko nang maging UAAP player sa basketball. Pero syempre di ko naman kaya. Buti ngayon may esports na,” revealed Aaronqt in an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times.

The 20-year-old midlaner began his UAAP journey with the University of Santo Tomas Teletigers, where he pursued an economics degree while representing the España-based squad in esports.

However, when the opportunity arose to transfer to his dream school, the former ECHO standout didn’t hesitate to make the leap.

“Yung first year ko ng college sa UST ako. Kaso dream school ko po talaga is La Salle. Kahit walang esports, La Salle talaga gusto ko. So ayun, nagtake ako ng exam and nag-transfer po ako,” said Aaronqt, who is now a first-year business management student at De La Salle University.

During his time with UST, he helped lead the Teletigers to a championship in the Alliance Games – Metro East and secured a fourth-place finish in the Alliance Games Season 4 Nationals—one of the premier collegiate esports tournaments in 2024.

Fueled by his desire to follow in the footsteps of his UAAP basketball idol Kevin Quiambao, Aaronqt made the switch to La Salle. And just like KQ led the Green Archers to glory on the hardcourt, Aaronqt powered the La Salle ML:BB team to a UAAP championship in his debut season.

He capped off his rookie campaign with a stellar Finals performance, averaging five kills, four assists, and just 0.33 deaths per game throughout the three-game championship series.

With Aaronqt at the helm, La Salle has emerged as a powerhouse in UAAP Esports, with even brighter prospects in the seasons to come.
