Stallion Laguna remained unbeaten in the PFF Women’s League after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over closest rival Kaya-Iloilo, while Makati reclaimed third place with back-to-back wins in the eighth week of competition held at the SM Mall of Asia Football Pitch.
The Laguna-based squad came out aggressive, stunning their Iloilo counterparts with two first-half goals.
Team captain Chandler McDaniel opened the scoring in the 10th minute, capitalizing on a deflection off the keeper.
Thirteen minutes later, Sierra Castles doubled the lead with a composed strike to the far post.
Kaya responded with urgency, led by Dionesa Tolentin whose surging runs tested Stallion’s backline.
However, goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel stood tall, making key saves to preserve the lead.
Kaya eventually broke through in the 52nd minute with Shelah Cadag slotting home to cut the deficit.
Despite the momentum shift, Olivia McDaniel continued to frustrate Kaya’s attack, denying any further attempts and sealing Stallion’s victory.
Meanwhile, Capital1 continued to build momentum with a 3-1 win over University of Santo Tomas.
The Lady Booters drew first blood in the 24th minute, when Stephanie Logastua’s long-range effort bounced off the crossbar and was ruled a goal.
But the Solar Strikers quickly responded, equalizing five minutes later with a clever flick inside the box from Helina Lamptey.
Just four minutes after that, Judie Arevalo and Sarahgen Tulabing found the back of the net within a minute of each other, completing the Solar Strikers’ comeback.
Despite the three points, Capital1 slipped out of third place, as Makati racked up six points from two dominant wins in the same week.
Makati returned to winning form with a resounding 5-1 victory over UST on Wednesday, led by Yona De La Calzada’s hat-trick (6′, 49′, 54′).
Sheva Furyzcha added a brace (35′, 85′), while UST managed a late consolation goal through Logastua (90+6′).
De La Calzada continued her scoring streak in Makati’s 9-0 demolition of University of the Philippines on Saturday, netting four goals (40′, 41′, 74′, 82′).
Veronica Appiah chipped in with a brace (27′, 43′), while Gea Yumanda (13′), Angely Alferez (24′), and Shalika Viandrisa (62′) also got on the scoresheet.
Thanks to her standout performances, De La Calzada now sits second in the league’s scoring chart with eight goals—just one behind Kaya-Iloilo’s Julissa Cisneros.
League action resumes on Saturday, May 24, with a UAAP rematch between UP and UST at 5 p.m., followed by a marquee clash between Capital1 and unbeaten Stallion Laguna at 7:45 p.m. in Pasay.
