Lorene Toring finally made her professional debut with Farm Fresh, less than a year after suffering a devastating ACL injury that ended her collegiate career prematurely and forced her to forgo her final playing year with Adamson University in the UAAP.
Toring sustained the injury during training before the start of the UAAP Season 86 Women’s Volleyball Tournament, bringing an abrupt halt to her stellar run with the Lady Falcons.
Despite the setback, she signed with the Foxies shortly after her recovery process began but missed the entire 2024 Premier Volleyball League season due to the same injury.
On Saturday, Toring made her long-awaited debut for Farm Fresh, contributing three points as the team swept Nxled, 25-22, 26-24, 25-21, to secure its third win in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The 5-foot-11 middle blocker admitted to feeling nervous but eventually settled into the game, finding her rhythm to help the Foxies achieve their victory.
“Honestly, medyo kinakabahan kanina pero nung paunti-unti na nakukuha na namin yung groove, medyo tumataas na yung confidence namin. Nagkaka-connection na kami with the setters and teammates,” said Toring.
She also shared her excitement about reuniting with her former Adamson teammates Louie Romero, Trisha Tubu, Aprylle Tagsip, and Rizza Cruz in the professional league.
“Sobrang happy kasi matagal ko na ‘to hinintay. Kami ni Jolina, and gusto ko din talaga maglaro sa Farm Fresh kasi andoon yung mga previous kong teammates – sila Louie (Romero), (Trisha) Tubu, Aprylle (Tagsip), and (Rizza Cruz),” said Toring.
Now fully recovered and back on the court, Toring vowed to bring her trademark intensity and leadership to help the Foxies continue their winning streak.
“Yung pagiging vocal ko sa loob kasi mostly sa Farm Fresh, mga nonchalant sila, hindi sila nagsasalita. Ayun yung way sa pagtulong ko sa team,” she explained.
