Farm Fresh may have lost its opening match against defending champion Creamline, but it gave the Foxies an added boost in their 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference campaign.
Opposite spiker Trisha Tubu said that their tight four-set loss to the Cool Smashers last Saturday gave the team much-needed confidence as they aim to defy expectations in their conference in the pros.
And it definitely showed in their next match as Farm Fresh took down newcomer Capital1 via sweep, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16, to bounce back from the tough defeat, Thursday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
“Maganda siya para samin kasi ayun nga, champion team tapos ang ganda pa po nung game, nung first set,” said Tubu, who poured a game-high 15 points in the win over the Solar Spikers.
The Foxies stunned the Rebisco-backed squad in the opening set, stealing the extended frame after getting a big lift from Tubu and Alyssa Bertolano before losing the next two sets in close fashion.
Unfortunately, Farm Fresh ran out of steam in the fourth frame as Creamline showcased its championship composure to seal the tightly contested match.
“Ang laking tulong po niya na ma-boost yung confidence namin, hindi lang ngayong game na ‘to kundi sa mga susunod na games kasi yun nga po mataas yung expectations samin and yung confidence po namin is tumaas din,” she said.
“Nung first game pong ‘yun, marami rin po kaming natutunan that game na alam naming magagamit namin at makakatulong sa team namin all throughout the season,” said the 23-year-old opposite spiker.
The former Adamson University standout admitted that the Foxies still need more polishing moving forward. But seeing how the team performed against Capital1, Tubu believes that the Foxies are trending in the right direction.
“May mga konting mga lapses pa po pero yun po, alam namin na all throughout the conference is mapo-polish pa talaga namin,” said Tubu.
