For four years, Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle poured their blood, sweat, and tears for the Globalport Batang Pier. Together, they single-handedly brought the six-year-old franchise to relevance.
But as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
Last April 3, Romeo was shipped by the Globalport Batang Pier to the TNT Katropa. And even if the schedule of the 2018 Commissioners Cup was released prior to the trade, it was set that the two teams would meet on opening day.
After donning the neon green and white for so long, Romeo still had goosebumps facing the team that drafted him back in 2013.
“Oo naman pero yun nga, ganun naman ang buhay ng isang player. Hindi namin alam kung saan kami pupunta,” reflected Romeo after the TNT Katropa’s 128-114 win over the Globalport Batang Pier.
“Ang importante, kung nasan kami, bibigay namin best namin.”
What was weirder for him was that he was guarding Pringle, who finished the game with 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting.
“Ibang-iba talaga yung pakiramdam. Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Weird yung nangyayari ngayon. Dati siya yung hinahanap ko, kami yung nagpapasahan.’ Ngayon, magkabantayan na kami. Ayun, tumawa lang siya,” furthered Romeo, who had 11 points in his debut with TNT.
“Isa siya sa pinaka-close friend ko. Napakabait na tao at player on and off the court.”
As the scrum with Romeo started, Sean Anthony passed by. Romeo made sure to greet him after Anthony paced Globalport with 34 points and 10 rebounds saying, “Good job bro! Galing mo!”.
Safe to say, even if his break-up with Globalport was not done properly by both sides, Romeo still maintains his ties with his former brothers-in-arm.
