TNT Tropang Giga is ushering in a new era with a rebranded name — TNT Tropang 5G.
The team will officially unveil the rebrand in the PBA All-Filipino Cup, set to kick off on Friday.
A perennial championship contender, TNT Tropang 5G has delivered masterclass performances in recent PBA history. Their collective passion and grit were on full display during their thrilling seven-game, overtime championship-clinching victory in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup Finals — a testament to the team’s unwavering connection.
This same “Tropang 5G” connection that unites the team also powers millions of KaTropas across the country.
With 11 PBA titles under its belt, TNT Tropang 5G carries a legacy of over two-and-a-half decades of bringing joy to Filipino basketball fans.
“Sobrang saya na maging part ako ng milestone na ito ng TNT. The fans have been with us through the years, from the ups and downs,” said two-time Asia’s Best Point Guard Jayson Castro, who has been with the franchise since being drafted in 2008.
“Lahat ng naa-achieve namin as a team, as an organization, lahat ng panalo namin — we dedicate talaga to the fans, sa mga KaTropa natin na tinuturing na rin naming second family namin.”
TNT power forward Calvin Oftana added, “I feel blessed na mapabilang sa TNT kasi makulay ang history ng team. From the time nina Kuya Asi (Taulava) and Kuya Jimmy (Alapag) during the Mobiline/Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals days in the early 2000s, nasubaybayan ko talaga kung paano sinundan ng PBA fans ‘yung team through the years. Salamat talaga nang marami kasi andiyan palagi ang mga KaTropa para sumuporta sa amin.”
Recently crowned Finals MVP Rey Nambatac echoed their sentiments, saying, “It has been a tough series for us, lalo na yung last one na umabot ng seven games tapos overtime pa. Pero gaya ng lahat ng KaTropa na sumusuporta sa amin, lumalaban para sa araw-araw na saya ang buong team.”
The Bisdak Connection
Interestingly, Nambatac, who hails from Cagayan de Oro, and Oftana, from Danao, Cebu, are part of the core “Tropang Bisdak” celebrated by fans online. They are joined by Poy Erram (Cagayan de Oro), RR Pogoy (Minglanilla, Cebu), and Glenn Khobuntin (Cagayan de Oro).
According to Khobuntin and Erram, they often communicate in Bisaya on the court — a tradition that has not only led to crucial plays but has also influenced their teammates. Even Best Import awardee Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has embraced it, often calling everyone “Dong.”
RHJ even shared with One Sports that he knows “some Bisaya, too,” playfully saying, “Ingat, Dong” to his teammates.
Following TNT’s 11th PBA title win on March 28, social media was flooded with celebratory posts like “Congrats, mga Bisdak,” “Solid Bisdak!” and “Tropang Bisdak,” solidifying their fan-favorite status.
The Country’s Biggest Mobile Brand
Much like its basketball team, TNT continues to dominate as the country’s leading mobile brand, boasting nearly 35 million subscribers as of the end of 2024.
To give back to its loyal users, TNT is reinforcing its commitment to delivering joy nationwide through an expanded mobile network, affordable data offers, and exciting experiences.
“Today, TNT is a huge part of my pre-game rituals, especially during training and workouts. I use it to listen to music, stream inspiring basketball videos, stay updated on the latest game trends, and, of course, keep in touch with my family and supporters who always have our backs,” shared TNT forward and former PBA MVP Kelly Williams.
KaTropas can look forward to more TNT 5G Max areas and additional cell sites rolling out across the country this year, ensuring better coverage and an enhanced mobile experience. Whether working or studying online, streaming favorite teleseryes during daily commutes, watching the latest TikTok uploads, or playing mobile games with friends, TNT is committed to keeping the tropa connected.
