TNT can now breathe a sigh of relief now that Bol Bol is here.
After anxiously waiting for quite a while, the Tropang 5G have seen the former NBA player in the flesh, at last, as he landed in Manila on Thursday morning.
The ball club posted photos of his arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, with no less than team manager Jojo Lastimosa welcoming him.
With this, both parties can now look forward to the highly anticipated PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup, which raises its curtains on March 11.
The son of late NBA player Manute Bol is set to reinforce a team that’s out to extend their dominion of the conference it conquered last season.
It could be recalled that TNT claimed the title at the expense of Justin Brownlee and Ginebra in six, big thanks to the leadership of Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
But with the three-time Best Import out for a significant amount of time due to an Achilles tear, the Tropa had no choice but to search for a replacement.
Eventually they’d find Bol, who played in the NBA from 2019 to 2025 with the Denver Nuggets, the Orlando Magic, and the Phoenix Suns.
His best season was with the Magic in 2022-23, where he averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 70 games–33 of which he started.
Listed at 7’3″, Bol is the tallest import in the conference so far and the third 7-footer as teams are taking advantage of the unlimited height for reinforcements.
The Oregon product is joining a team hungry not just to repeat but to reclaim glory after losing to June Mar Fajardo and San Miguel in the recent Philippine Cup.
