With last conference’s PBA Finals MVP Jayson Castro sidelined, Rey Nambatac fearlessly stepped up — and then some.
The 5-foot-11 guard from Cagayan de Oro, now in his eighth year in the league, took command of TNT and led the Tropang Giga to their second consecutive PBA title — the 2024-25 PBA Commissioner’s Cup — earning himself the Finals MVP honors.
Nambatac averaged 17.85 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists throughout the Finals series.
He delivered a playoff career-high 23 points in Game 6, then followed it up with 22 points, four assists, two rebounds, and three steals in the decisive Game 7, powering TNT to an 87-83 thriller and securing the franchise’s 11th championship.
This marks Nambatac’s first-ever individual award in the PBA.
