Jeron Teng admitted that there was frustration on his part when he suffered a knee injury during Alaska’s 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup match with Phoenix Pulse last November 15.
The second-generation cager would prefer not to sit on the sidelines again. He has just recovered from a hamstring injury, which caused him to miss the Aces’ first few games this conference.
“Siyempre frustration dahil masa-sideline na naman ako,” admitted the 25-year-old forward out of La Salle.
Still, Teng knows well that injuries happen to players. And for him, he’s just glad that nothing is seriously hurt in his right knee, and that he only needs to rest for two weeks.
“Happy kami dun sa results na hindi grabe, ‘yung MRI ko. Hyper-extended knee so I just have to rest for about two weeks,” he said.
“Happy rin ako na walang kailangang procedure na gawin.”
Teng was with the Milkmen when they took on the NLEX Road Warriors Wednesday, but he only watched from the bench.
Many initially expected Alaska to struggle against their foes, but it proved otherwise, scoring a 106-90 win to make it to the quarterfinals as the seventh seed.
Teng, of course, is proud of what his fellow Aces have achieved. And now, he hopes that he can recover and help his team come playoff time, which raises its curtains this Sunday, November 24.
“I’m still thankful for everything, especially today. We won, we’re in the quarterfinals, so mahaba pa ‘yung conference namin. So sana andyan pa kami pagkabalik ko,” he said.
